What happened to Donny in The Big Lebowski isn't as straightforward as the film makes it seem. Played by Steve Buscemi, Donny is one of The Dude's best friends, the other being the overly-aggressive Walter (John Goodman), who views him as a barnacle on the side of the majestic aircraft carrier that is his friendship with The Dude (Jeff Bridges). Both Donny and Walter are part of The Dude's bowling team and invariably get mixed up in his misadventures when he's mistaken for the titular Big Lebowski, a titan of industry whose wife Bunny has been held ransom for a hefty sum.
